“You may only be someone in the world, but to someone else,
you may be the world.” ~Author Unknown
Today I had the pleasure of accompanying my older daughter
as she went on her first field trip of the year to a local apple orchard. After we got back to her school, I was
delighted to be able to eat lunch with her.
Seeing the look of excitement and enjoyment when I am able to spend time with her during the school day is priceless. On a beautiful day as it turned out to be, I kept reminding myself how
lucky I am to be able to share these special moments with her, as I walked
beside her and she grabbed for my hand so she could hold it. I know it’s only a matter of time before
moments and days like this will only become a fond memory of times gone by.
It’s fun to be Daddy, and it’s fun to hold hands with my “Sweet
Cheeks.” The other things in life don’t
matter as much when you’re where you belong.
I know that I am only “just me” to myself, but I know that I am a pretty
important guy when it comes to my daughter and spending time together.
When we turn to look at our own lives, we may not realize
how much of an impression we may be making on others. For good or for bad, the way we respond to
adversity, difficulty, or unexpected change is noted by others. The way we celebrate successes of others and
collaborate is noted, whether we realize it or not.
Just as a parent needs to be mindful of their actions and
words in the presence of their children, we also need to be mindful of how we
conduct ourselves in the presence of those in our lives. While we may be living “just another ordinary
day,” we must look at it as our opportunity to set an example for others to
follow, who may be looking to us for guidance and support.
Have a great day, and enjoy being the world!
