“It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.”
~Chinese Proverb
Kirk Weisler (kirkweisler.com)
wrote a great book called the “Dog Poop Initiative.” The story is a true story about how people
at a youth soccer game kept warning others to not venture near a pile of dog poop, but did nothing to
get rid of it. Finally, Kirk simply went
and cleaned up the mess, and the problem was solved.
Sometimes it’s frustrating to see inaction in others who just stand
around and complain without taking action.
It’s a lot easier to just complain, but it doesn’t do much to improve
how a person feels about the situation.
The reality is the longer the person sits there and stews over current
affairs, the more angry and resentful they become about it, but inaction keeps
them stagnant, and the problem remains.
Let’s choose to identify where we are standing on the sidelines with a
critical or non-productive mindset, and let’s choose to light it up! Let’s light a candle instead of complaining
about the darkness! Let’s be part of the
solution!
Have a great day!
