Creating a conspiracy

Today’s installment on common characteristic shared by successful individuals is probably one of the toughest to master. That characteristic is what Dr. Loretta Malandro calls “conspiring for others.”

I don’t know if it’s human nature, something we learn, or a little bit of both, but I am sure you will agree with me that one thing that it is so easy to do is to be critical of others, especially when the others we are talking about are not present. It seems so hard wired into our systems to talk about people behind their back, throw people under the bus, gossip about others, or “back bite.”

“Whoever gossips to you will gossip
about you.” ~Spanish Proverb
It takes a great deal of effort to conspire “for” others instead of conspiring “against” others. Are you up to the challenge? How are you going to react if someone says something negative about another person who is not present? How are you going to resist your past programming of negativity and blame? Are you ready to join the champions?

One easy technique to adopt is to simply talk about others as if they were standing right next to you, hearing every word they say. If you choose to frame your conversations in this fashion, you will find yourself saying things about others that point out their strengths, stating that things may have been taken out of context or misunderstood, and most importantly, feeling good about yourself because you talked someone up, rather than tearing them down.

My challenge to you is to conspire for others…Are you ready to start some positive conspiracies?

I know you can do it!  Best wishes!
