Today is a great day for Green Bay Packer fans. Last night they won the NFL Championship, making the trip "back home" for the Vince Lombardi Trophy a reality.
One of the most remarkable aspects of their successful campaign this season was the fact that they overcame the adversity of losing fifteen players to injury this season. In a league where you can suit up only forty-five players per game, it's remarkable to think they had to play on without a third of their "original" roster by the end of the season.
Whenever the players were asked how they were able to come out on top, they players spoke of a recurring theme: overcoming adversity.
One particular player credited their coach, Mike McCarthy, with providing them with the motivation needed to go on, despite the numerous injuries that would normally cripple a team. He was quoted as saying that their coach told them to keep their heads up, and remember that all of their goals were still ahead of them.
So, let's follow the advice of the coach of a championship team. Let's rise above any adversity we face in our lives, and remember that, regardless of what difficulties we face, our goals are still ahead of us.
It is ultimately our choice -- either to let the adversity get us down and eliminate any hope of accomplishing our goals, or to rise up above the adversity and keep moving toward our goals that we have set ahead of us.
Let's all work to have a champion mentality every day!
Best wishes,
-Victor
