Cornell University was conducted a study where 2,600 participants were asked if they would consider making a tradeoff between a higher paying job and reasonable work hours. The result of the survey revealed that “the pocketbooks won out.”
The reason? Instability in the work place regarding job security and the economy, coupled with cuts to programs that strengthen culture and promote individual growth!
In previous studies, the economy, job security, and the opportunity for individual growth were ranked higher in importance than money, so analysts are theorizing that if those three items aren’t available, then money is all that’s left!
Wait a minute – are you kidding me? Money is all that’s left?
Who controls our happiness? The companies we work for? Do we need to rely on a company to provide a program to strengthen the culture of an organization? What about us?
“He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still.” ~Tao Te Ching
We can’t rely on others to create happiness for us. Remember that you control your destiny, and you alone determine whether you are happy – not anyone else. Would you want it any other way anyway?
In these turbulent times, we can’t wait for others to do things for us. We need to identify what is important to us, and we need to go for it!
You don’t have to choose money over happiness! Happiness is within you!
Go get it!
