Have you ever faced a task that just seemed so impossible that you didn’t even bother starting because you didn’t know where to begin? Have you ever told yourself something like, “…I really should get around to (fill in the blank)” as if that will be motivation enough to get started? Chances are you still are telling yourself you should start getting around to it. I know we are all guilty of wishful thinking and empty promises. Maybe it’s something that we would like to improve within ourselves, or a habit we would like to kick or something good we would like to do for ourselves, like making healthier choices or getting more physically active.
Think of just one thing that you have been putting off because the task seems so large, and make a firm commitment to yourself to get it done – and then do it! It takes about two weeks, as research shows, to adopt a new routine, so give yourself time.
I dare you to venture out and tackle one difficult task. The positive self-esteem you gain from accomplishing your goals will fuel your motivation to succeed in other areas as well.
I wish you the best!
